Abstract

A tow bracket apparatus configured to couple to a golf cart tow hitch has a body including a hitch defining a hitch slot between an upper and lower side configured to receive the tow hitch. A hitch coupling includes openings in the upper and lower sides that are aligned to receive a coupling member also extendable through an opening in the tow hitch to couple the mount and tow hitch. A bar-link mount includes first and second plates defining a channel configured to receive an end of a bar link. The first and second plates may have openings alignable with an opening of the end of the bar link to receive a pin that pivotably couples the end of the bar link in the channel such that the end is vertically pivotable and laterally restrained relative to the tow bracket apparatus.

Dependent claims

A tow bracket apparatus configured to couple to a front tow hitch of a golf cart, the tow bracket apparatus comprising:

a body;
a hitch mount on the body defining a hitch slot between an upper side and a lower side, the hitch slot configured to receive the front tow hitch;
a hitch coupling comprising an opening in the upper side and an opening in the lower side aligned to receive a coupling member that is further extendable through an opening in the front tow hitch to couple the hitch mount and the front tow hitch;
and
a bar-link mount comprising first and second plates that define a channel configured to receive an end of a bar link, the first and second plates having openings alignable with an opening of the end of the bar link to receive a pin that pivotably couples the end of the bar link in the channel such that the end is vertically pivotable and laterally restrained relative to the tow bracket apparatus.

A method of linking a tow golf cart and a towed golf cart and fixing a front-wheel orientation of the towed golf cart during towing, the method comprising:

mounting a tow bracket to a front tow hitch of the tow golf cart by inserting the front tow hitch into a hitch slot of a hitch mount defined between an upper side and a lower side of the tow bracket and inserting a coupling member through an opening in the upper side, through an opening in the front tow hitch, and through an opening in the lower side to couple the hitch mount and the front tow hitch;
coupling an end of a bar link into a channel formed by first and second plates of a bar-link mount on at least one of the tow bracket or a towed bracket and inserting a pin through aligned openings of the plates and the end of the bar link to provide vertical pivoting and lateral restraint of the bar link relative to the bracket;
and
coupling a steer bar between a steering-lock mount provided on a bracket or a frame or axle component of the towed golf cart and a steering control link of the towed golf cart by sliding a bushing at a first end of the steer bar over a shaft of the steering-lock mount and seating the bushing on a shoulder of the steering-lock mount and engaging a coupling at a second end of the steer bar with the steering control link to fix the front-wheel orientation of the towed golf cart for towing.
