Platform for Supporting a Slab During Computer-Controlled or Automated Cutting

A platform for supporting a slab during automated cutting, the platform comprising:

• a frame for supporting the slab in a substantially horizontal position over a cutting bed, the frame comprising a plurality of rails configured to extend over the cutting bed;
• a plurality of pneumatic pistons mounted to the plurality of rails and arranged to form a grid arranged in rows and columns of pneumatic pistons for supporting the slab over the cutting bed;
• at least one pneumatic source fluidly connected to the plurality of pneumatic pistons that selectively causes one or more of the plurality of pneumatic pistons to extend and retract;
• and
• a controller configured to selectively apply fluid pressure from the at least one pneumatic source to the one or more of the plurality of pneumatic pistons for extending or retracting the plurality of pneumatic pistons in coordination with automated cutting of the slab.
