Drill

A drill comprising:

• a chip discharging groove formed on a periphery of a drill body rotatable around an axis, the drill body having a tip portion;
• a first thinning face formed on the outer circumference of the drill body and extending across the chip discharging groove and obliquely toward said tip portion of the drill body, the first thinning face having a tip portion adjacent the tip portion of the drill body;
• a first relief surface that forms a first cutting edge that serves as a main cutting edge on a boundary ridge line with the first thinning face, the first relief surface being formed on a side of the said first cutting edge opposite to the direction of drill rotation and being in contact with said first thinning face;
• a second thinning face formed on the tip portion of the first thinning face, in contact with the first thinning face and on the side of said first thinning face opposite the direction of drill rotation;
• and
• a second cutting edge formed on the boundary ridge line between the second thinning face and the first relief face;
• wherein the first cutting edge on the outer circumference side reaches the outer circumferential surface of the drill or the vicinity of the outer circumferential surface of the drill.
