Abstract
Disclosed herein, inter alia, are systems and methods useful for reducing bubble formation in fluidic devices.
Claims30
A system configured to remove a bubble from a fluidic pathway of a spatial sequencing system, the system comprising:
- a fluidic pathway;
- a bubble trap cavity in co mmunication with the fluidic pathway, the bubble trap cavity including a vertical passageway in co mmunication with the fluidic pathway;
- an optical fluid sensor proximal to the bubble trap cavity, the optical fluid sensor configured to detect a presence of a bubble in or near the bubble trap cavity;
- a first valve coupled to the fluidic pathway;
- and
- a second valve coupled to the fluidic pathway;
- wherein, upon sensing the presence of the bubble, the optical fluid sensor triggers actuation of the first valve to redirect fluid flow and prevent the bubble from further progressing along the fluid pathway and further triggers the second valve to divert the bubble into a waste stream.

A method of removing a bubble from a fluidic pathway of a spatial sequencing system, the method comprising:
- identifying presence of a bubble near a bubble trap cavity of the fluidic pathway;
- actuating a first valve coupled to the fluidic pathway to cause the bubble to migrate into the bubble trap cavity;
- redirecting fluid through the fluidic pathway such that the bubble is prevented from moving toward a flow cell;
- and
- activating a second valve to divert the bubble from the bubble trap cavity toward a waste stream pathway.
