Axial flow single split filter

A filter element, comprising:

• a first endplate at least partially defining a first chamber;
• a second endplate at least partially defining a second chamber;
• a center tube coupled to the first endplate and the second endplate, the center tube in fluid receiving communication with the first chamber and fluid providing communication with the second chamber;
• an outer tube disposed outside the center tube and coupled to the first endplate and the second endplate, the outer tube comprising one or more openings;
• and
• at least one resin bed disposed between the outer tube and the center tube, the at least one resin bed in fluid receiving communication with one or both of the first chamber and the second chamber.

A method of filtering a fluid, the method comprising:

• passing the fluid into a filter element, the filter element comprising a first endplate at least partially defining a first chamber, wherein the fluid is passed into the first chamber;
• dividing the fluid between a first flow path and a second flow path, the first flow path defined by first outer openings of the first endplate, the second flow path defined by a center opening of the first endplate, a center tube of the filter element, and second outer openings of a second endplate of the filter element, wherein the center tube is coupled to the first endplate and the second endplate;
• and
• passing the fluid through at least one resin bed, the at least one resin bed in fluid receiving communication with one or both of the first outer openings of the first endplate and the second outer openings of the second endplate.
