Secondary layer assembly for an impact surface and method thereof

A multi-layer film assembly for coupling to the playing surface of a sports implement, comprising:

• a film layer having a first surface and a second surface, wherein the film layer comprises:
• a first layer having first side and a second side;
• and a
• second layer having a first side and a second side;
• wherein the first side of the second layer forms an exterior contacting surface and the first side of the first layer is contacting the second side of the first layer, wherein the second side of the first layer forms the interior bonding surface that can provide a semi-rigid carrier surface for the second portion, wherein the first portion has a hardness between 50 Shore D and 150 R and the second portion has a hardness of between 50 Shore A and 60 Shore D;
• a pressure sensitive adhesive layer applied to a bonding surface of the film layer, wherein the pressure sensitive adhesive layer is comprised of a singular layer non-differential adhesive having only one adhesive property.

A paddle apparatus comprising:

• a core portion having a handle portion and head portion, a first side, second side, and a sidewall forming a perimeter edge;
• a frame assembly comprising:
• first frame portion and second frame portion to approximate the perimeter edge of the core portion,
• wherein the first frame portion and the second frame portion are adhered together to form a barrier around the sidewall of the corporation, wherein the adhesive provides structural rigidity and vibration damping;
• a grip portion configured to cover a portion of the handle portion of the frame assembly, and
• removably couplable secondary film assembly comprising:
• a first attachable portion comprising:
• a film portion, wherein the film portion has a first surface and a second surface;
• and
• a pressure sensitive adhesive layer applied to a bonding surface of the film portion, wherein the pressure sensitive adhesive layer is comprised of a singular layer of non-differential adhesive having only one adhesive property on the first side of the adhesive layer and the second side of the adhesive layer.
