Abstract
The present invention relates to new immunogenic compositions comprising conjugated Streptococcus pneumoniae capsular saccharide antigens (glycoconjugates), kits comprising said immunogenic compositions and uses thereof. Immunogenic compositions of the present invention will typically comprise at least one glycoconjugate from a S. pneumoniae serotype not found in PREVNAR®, SYNFLORIX® and/or PREVNAR 13®. The invention also relates to vaccination of human subjects, in particular infants and elderly, against pneumococcal infections using said novel immunogenic compositions.
Claims20
An isolated S. pneumoniae serotype 22A saccharide with the following repeating unit:
- where n represents the number of repeating units and wherein the O-acetyl group at position 2 of β-D-Rhap is present in about 50% to about 100% of the repeating units.
A serotype 22A glycoconjugate comprising a serotype 22A capsular saccharide with the following repeating unit:
- where n represents the number of repeating units, wherein X represents either a α-D-galactofuranose (α-D-Galf) or a α-L-Arabinofuranose (α-L-Araf) residue and wherein the O-acetyl group at position 2 of β-D-Rhap is present in about 50% to about 100% of the repeating units. In an embodiment, said serotype 22A capsular saccharide comprises between about 80 to about 99.5 α-D-galactofuranose (α-D-Galf) residues and between about 0.5 to about 20 α-L-Arabinofuranose (α-L-Araf) residues in every 100 saccharide repeat units of the saccharide.
