The present invention relates to a composition for preventing, ameliorating or trating eye diseases, comprising Achyranthes japonica, Glycyrrhiza uralensis, or a mixed extract thereof. The composition comprising Achyranthes japonica, Glycyrrhiza uralensis, or a mixed extract thereof as an active ingredient, according to the present invention, has an excellent antioxidant effect and an excellent effect of restoring oxygen consumption and ATP production in mitochondria, and further has the effects of protecting mitochondria and inhibiting retinal cell death caused by blue light stress, and thus can be applied as a medicine, a health functional food, and a quasi-drug composition, for the prevention, amelioration or treatment of various eye diseases.
