Abstract
In embodiments, a method of treating a disease or condition caused by an enveloped virus in a mammal is disclosed including administering to the mammal a composition comprising protocatechuic acid crystals and disrupting the viral envelope of the enveloped virus. The mammal may be a human. The composition may include a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The enveloped virus may be a Togavirus or Flavivirus of the Togavirus or Flavivirus encoated virus families.
Claims6
A method of inactivating a Togavirus or a Flavivirus of the Togavirus or Flavivirus encoated virus families, comprising:
- oral, topical, buccal, injection, pulmonary, intravenous, inhalant, subcutaneous, sublingual, and/or transdermal administration to a human infected with the Togavirus or the Flavivirus of the Togavirus or Flavivirus encoated virus families, a composition comprising protocatechuic acid crystals.
A method of interrupting the transmission of a Togavirus or a Flavivirus of the Togavirus or Flavivirus encoated virus families by application on a mammal's skin, personal protective equipment, ventilations systems, a room, a hard surface, and/or a facility, and protecting for a period of time from the Togavirus encoated virus family or the Flavivirus of the Togavirus or Flavivirus encoated virus families comprising:
- spraying, coating, fogging, and/or infusing the subject's skin or personal protective equipment, room and/or facility, with a composition comprising protocatechuic acid, a liquid vehicle, and a stabilizer.
