Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a pain relief head device and a method for operating the pain relief head device. A pain relief head device includes a frame body. The pain relief head device includes a plurality of contact members coupled to the frame body. The plurality of contact members are configured to selectively apply external pressure to a plurality of locations on the patient’s head, neck, and/or face to occlude a plurality of blood vessels associated with the plurality of locations. The pain relief helmet similarly treats pain. The pain relief helmet includes a helmet with variable and adjustable contact members attached, and may include detachable pressure applicators.
