Abstract
A nose piece/tip portion for use with a chiropractic adjusting instrument to apply a desired impulse force to tissues of a geriatric and/or pediatric patient. The nose piece/tip includes an elongate body defining a first internal cavity in communication with a distal end of a thrust rod, and a second internal infill cavity positioned between the distal end of the first internal cavity and the distal end of the elongate body. An infill member having a select micro-architecture is mounted within the second internal infill cavity to adjust the volume fraction of a front portion of the elongate body.
Claims20
A nose piece/tip portion for use with a chiropractic adjusting instrument to apply a desired impulse force thereon tissues of a geriatric and/or pediatric patient, comprising:
- an elongate body defining a first internal cavity that is in communication with a distal end of a thrust rod of the chiropractic adjusting instrument and defining a second internal infill cavity positioned between the distal end of the first internal cavity and the distal end of the elongate body;
- and
- an infill member having a select micro-architecture, mounted within the second internal infill cavity of the elongate body to adjust the volume fraction of a front portion of the elongate body.
A method of applying a desired impulse force to tissues of a geriatric and/or pediatric patient using a chiropractic adjusting instrument, the method comprising:
- providing a nose piece/tip portion comprising an elongate body defining a first internal cavity in communication with a distal end of a thrust rod of the chiropractic adjusting instrument, and a second internal infill cavity positioned between the distal end of the first internal cavity and the distal end of the elongate body, wherein an infill member having a select micro-architecture is mounted within the second internal infill cavity to adjust a volume fraction of a front portion of the elongate body;
- positioning the nose piece/tip portion against skin of the patient;
- and actuating the chiropractic adjusting instrument to deliver a mechanical impulse through the nose piece/tip portion to the patient, wherein the infill member limits peak thrust force applied to the patient.
