Wheelchair docking system and method thereof

A vehicle, comprising:

• a floor defining a first passenger position and a second passenger position;
• a track system comprising at least a first track located in the first passenger position and at least a second track located in the second passenger position;
• a wheelchair dock;
• and
• a quick-release fitting coupling the wheelchair dock to the track system, wherein the quick-release fitting enables the wheelchair dock to be selectively secured at either the first passenger position or the second passenger position.

A method of configuring a vehicle for wheelchair transport, the method comprising:

• providing a vehicle having a floor defining a first passenger position and a second passenger position, a first track coupled to the vehicle floor in the first passenger position, and a second track coupled to the vehicle floor in the second passenger position;
• providing a wheelchair dock having a quick-release fitting;
• and
• selectively securing the wheelchair dock to either the first track in the first passenger position or the second track in the second passenger position using the quick-release fitting to establish a desired seating location.
