Abstract
A targeting guide is disclosed includes a handle extending substantially along a longitudinal axis. The longitudinal handle defines one or more burr holes extending from a first side of the handle to a second side of the handle. A head is coupled to a distal end of the longitudinal handle. The head defines a plurality of guide holes sized and configured to receive a k-wire therethrough.
Claims35
A system comprising:
- a targeting guide comprising a handle extending substantially along a longitudinal axis, wherein the handle defines one or more burr receiving holes extending from a first side of the handle to a second side of the handle;
- a head coupled to a distal end of the handle, wherein the head includes a distal stepped surface defining a plurality of offset surfaces and a plurality of guide holes sized and configured to receive a k-wire therethrough;
- and
- a locking mechanism configured to lock the second body portion at a variable position along the first passageway defined by the first body portion.
A system for forming a Chevron osteotomy, comprising:
- an elevator including a body extending substantially along a longitudinal axis, the body defining an inner cavity sized and configured to receive at least one bone;
- a displacement tip extending from a distal end of the body, the displacement tip having a predetermined radius of curvature and being sized for insertion between a first portion of a bone and a second portion of the bone;
- a bone retaining section defined by the body and configured to secure a distal portion of the bone after displacement;
- and
- a handle surrounding the body configured to rotate the body about the longitudinal axis to displace the first portion of the bone relative to the second portion of the bone.
A targeting guide for use in an osteotomy procedure, comprising:
- a handle extending substantially along a longitudinal axis, the handle defining a plurality of positioning holes each sized to receive a first elongate surgical instrument therethrough, wherein the plurality of positioning holes are arranged substantially over a proximal portion of the handle;
- a head coupled to a distal end of the handle, the head defining a cutout extending from a distal surface toward a proximal surface of the head, the cutout sized and configured to receive a metatarsal therein, the cutout and edges of the head defining a first tine and a second tine positioned on opposite sides of the cutout;
- and
- a plurality of guide holes extending through the head from a proximal side to a distal side, each guide hole sized to receive a k-wire therethrough.
A displacement elevator for use in an osteotomy procedure, comprising:
- a body having a distal portion and a proximal portion, the body defining an inner cavity sized and configured to receive at least one bone therein, wherein the inner cavity defines a first cavity portion and a second cavity portion each portion sized to receive a section of a metatarsal therein;
- and
- a displacement tip extending from the distal portion of the body, the displacement tip defining a predetermined radius of curvature and being sized and configured to be inserted into a cut formed in a bone to displace a first bone portion from a second bone portion to form an osteotomy.
A method of fixing an osteotomy at a surgical site, comprising:
- coupling a surgical guide to a guide wire previously inserted at the surgical site, wherein coupling comprises sliding the guide wire through a first hole defined by a first arm of the surgical guide and through a slot defined by an alignment body slidably received within a first slot of a central section of the surgical guide;
- locking the alignment body at a selected position along the first slot using a locking mechanism coupled to the alignment body;
- and
- inserting one or more fasteners through one or more fastener holes defined by the surgical guide to maintain the osteotomy in a fixed position during bone healing.
