Powered chair with forward moving backrest when the backrest is reclined

Abstract

A new and improved powered chair wherein the same comprises a backrest assembly, a seat assembly, a footrest assembly, a powered chair framework assembly, and a linear actuator assembly, all connected together by means of a linkage assembly. More particularly, the linkage assembly effectively comprises a pantograph-type assembly which interconnects a pair of oppositely disposed backrest mounting plates to a pair of oppositely disposed seat plates such that when the powered chair backrest is moved from its upright position to a reclined position, the pair of oppositely disposed backrest mounting plates are effectively moved closer to the pair of oppositely disposed seat plates so as to effectively eliminate any gap which would otherwise be conventionally defined between the powered chair backrest and the powered chair seat.
