Abstract
A hair weft attachment apparatus is provided that distributes loads generated during wear to reduce localized stress on a wearer's scalp and hair. The apparatus includes a tension strap having a longitudinal extent and a width, the tension strap being configured to be woven into a track formed from the wearer's own hair. The track is formed from a plurality of bundled hair sections arranged along a scalp region of the wearer and secured using beads. A hair weft is sewn to the track formed from the wearer's hair. The tension strap reinforces the track and functions as a load-bearing structural element integrated with the track such that tensile and dynamic forces generated by the hair weft are distributed along the track and transferred away from localized regions of the scalp and hair during wear.
Claims20
An apparatus, comprising:
- a tension strap having a longitudinal extent and a width, wherein:
- the tension strap is configured to be woven into a track formed from a wearer's hair and attached to bundled hair sections of the wearer's hair using beads such that the tension strap reinforces the track and provides structural support thereto,
- the track comprises a plurality of bundled hair sections collected from the wearer's hair and is arranged along a scalp region of the wearer,
- a hair weft is sewn to the track formed from the wearer's hair, and the tension strap is configured to function as a load-bearing structural element integrated with the track such that forces generated by the hair weft are distributed along the track and transferred away from localized regions of the wearer's scalp and hair during wear.
A system, comprising:
- a tension strap, wherein:
- the tension strap is woven into and removably attached to a track formed from a wearer's hair using beads,
- the track comprises bundled hair sections collected from the wearer's hair,
- a hair weft is sewn to the track, and
- the tension strap distributes forces generated by the hair weft along the track and away from individual bundled hair sections and localized scalp regions of the wearer.
A method for attaching a hair weft, comprising:
- forming a track from a wearer's hair by collecting portions of the hair into bundled hair sections using beads, without braiding the hair;
- weaving a tension strap into the track such that the tension strap is removably attached to the bundled hair sections and structurally reinforces the track;
- and
- sewing the hair weft to the track formed from the wearer's hair,
- wherein forces generated by the hair weft are borne by the tension strap and distributed along the track during wear.
