Abstract
A gummy supplement is provided. The gummy supplement includes a mixture of sugar and/or a sugar alternative, a gelling component, an active component, color, flavor, and acid. The amount of the gelling component is sufficient to result in a formed gelled product after the mixture is cooked and cured. The gummy supplement further comprises a coating for the formed gelled product comprising bamboo fiber.
Claims21
A gummy supplement, comprising:
- a mixture of sugar and/or a sugar alternative, a gelling component, an active component, color, flavor, and acid, wherein the amount of the gelling component is sufficient to result in a formed gelled product after the mixture is cooked and cured;
- and
- a coating for the formed gelled product comprising bamboo fiber.
A method of making gummy supplements, comprising the steps of:
- hydrating a gelling component;
- mixing the hydrated gelling component with sugar and/or a sugar alternative and cooking the mixture;
- adding an active ingredient, color, flavor, and acid to the mixture;
- depositing the cooked mixture into a starchless forming structure to make formed gummy supplements;
- removing the formed gummy supplements from the forming structure;
- applying a coating comprising bamboo fiber to the demolded gummy supplements to make coated gummy supplements;
- curing the coated gummy supplements to complete gelling;
- and
- packing a plurality of the coated gummy supplements in a common container.
