Abstract
A cutting device is used for slicing food items, including beef or pork carcasses, and features a flat cutting body with at least one cutting edge, and drive means for driving rotation of the cutting body around a rotational axis. The drive means includes a direct drive motor with a stator and a rotor that rotates relative to the stator. The rotor is rigidly connected to the cutting body. The device is housed in a housing that contains the direct drive motor, and the cutting body has an opening on its inner side, with the stator and rotor extending within this opening.

A cutting device for cutting food items, comprising:
- a flat cutting body having at least one cutting edge,
- drive means for driving rotation of the cutting body about a rotational axis, the drive means comprising a direct drive motor with a stator and a rotor which is rotatable with respect to the stator, the rotor being rigidly connected to the cutting body,
- a housing in which the direct drive motor is provided wherein the cutting body is provided with an opening at its inner side, the stator and the rotor extending within the opening.
