Apparatus to control a drum and spindles of a cotton harvester row unit

An apparatus to control a drum and spindles of a row unit of a cotton harvester, the apparatus comprising:

• a shaft operatively coupled to a first motor, the shaft defining a rotational axis, the first motor to drive rotation of the shaft about the rotational axis at a first rotational speed;
• a spindle drive gear coupled to and extending circumferentially around the shaft, the spindle drive gear to rotate with the shaft about the rotational axis at the first rotational speed, the rotation of the spindle drive gear to control rotation of the spindles;
• and
• a drum drive gear operatively coupled to the shaft via a planetary gear system, the drum drive gear and the planetary gear system extending circumferentially around the shaft, a second motor and the shaft to drive, via the planetary gear system, rotation of the drum drive gear about the rotational axis at a second rotational speed, the second rotational speed based on the first rotational speed, the rotation of the drum drive gear to control rotation of the drum.
