A method for manufacturing a Hall sensor comprising GaAs with a GaAs semiconductor wafer, wherein a process step, a III-V insulation layer is produced on the substrate and, via an epitaxy process, a semiconductor layer comprising GaAs is grown on the insulation layer with an n-doping. A shielding layer comprising n-doped GaAs and bonded to the semiconductor layer is formed, wherein the doping of the shielding layer is higher than the doping of the semiconductor layer. A plurality of masked first regions are generated via a masking process, wherein at least some of the first regions are completely enclosed by strip-shaped mask-free second regions. A vertical insulation layer is created in the second regions with one or more subsequent process steps. Contacts are formed in at least some of the first regions in order to operate the semiconductor layer in the first region as a Hall sensor.
