A light-emitting element includes an anode, a cathode, and a light-emitting layer provided between the anode and the cathode. The light-emitting layer includes a first portion including an inorganic matrix of a first material and a second portion including an inorganic matrix of a second material. The first portion is provided closer to the anode than the second portion. The first portion includes a plurality of quantum dots including a third material different from the first material and the second material. Filling with at least the inorganic matrix of the first material is made between the plurality of quantum dots. The filling rate of the quantum dots in a cross section of the first portion is greater than the filling rate of the quantum dots in a cross section of the second portion.
