Abstract
A method includes receiving, by a first modular in-rack coolant distribution unit (IRCDU), a first coolant from a first CDU. The method further includes receiving, by a second modular IRCDU, a second coolant from a second CDU. The method further includes adjusting, by first components of the first modular IRCDU calibrated to the first coolant, a first chemical or physical property of the first coolant. The method further includes adjusting, by second components of the second modular IRCDU calibrated to the second coolant, a second chemical or physical property of the second coolant.

A method, comprising:
- receiving, by a first modular in-rack coolant distribution unit (IRCDU) disposed in a first datacenter rack, a first coolant from a first coolant distribution unit (CDU) remote from the first datacenter rack, wherein the first modular IRCDU comprises first components calibrated to the first coolant;
- receiving, by a second modular IRCDU disposed in a second datacenter rack, a second coolant, different from the first coolant, from a second CDU remote from the second datacenter rack, wherein the second modular IRCDU comprises second components calibrated to the second coolant, and wherein the first and second modular IRCDUs are interchangeable via a first plug-in connection disposed within the first datacenter rack and a second plug-in connection disposed within the second datacenter rack;
- adjusting, by the first components of the first modular IRCDU, a first chemical or physical property of the first coolant;
- and
- adjusting, by the second components of the second modular IRCDU, a second chemical or physical property of the second coolant.
A system, comprising:
- a datacenter cooling system;
- and
- a controller for the datacenter cooling system, the controller configured to:
- cause a first modular in-rack coolant distribution unit (IRCDU) disposed in a first datacenter rack to receive a first coolant from a first coolant distribution unit (CDU) remote from the first datacenter rack, wherein the first modular IRCDU comprises first components calibrated to the first coolant;
- cause a second modular IRCDU disposed in a second datacenter rack to receive a second coolant, different from the first coolant, from a second CDU remote from the second datacenter rack, wherein the second modular IRCDU comprises second components calibrated to the second coolant, and wherein the first and second modular IRCDUs are interchangeable via a first plug-in connection disposed within the first datacenter rack and a second plug-in connection disposed within the second datacenter rack;
- cause, by the first components of the first modular IRCDU, a first adjustment of a first chemical or physical property of the first coolant;
- and
- cause, by the second components of the second modular IRCDU, a second adjustment of a second chemical or physical property of the second coolant.
A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed by a processing device, cause the processing device to perform operations comprising:
- causing a first modular in-rack coolant distribution unit (IRCDU) disposed in a first datacenter rack to receive a first coolant from a first coolant distribution unit (CDU) remote from the first datacenter rack, wherein the first modular IRCDU comprises first components calibrated to the first coolant;
- causing a second modular IRCDU disposed in a second datacenter rack to receive a second coolant, different from the first coolant, from a second CDU remote from the second datacenter rack, wherein the second modular IRCDU comprises second components calibrated to the second coolant, and wherein the first and second modular IRCDUs are interchangeable via a first plug-in connection disposed within the first datacenter rack and a second plug-in connection disposed within the second datacenter rack;
- causing, by the first components of the first modular IRCDU, a first adjustment of a first chemical or physical property of the first coolant;
- and
- causing, by the second components of the second modular IRCDU, a second adjustment of a second chemical or physical property of the second coolant.
