Abstract
A method of operating a cooking appliance includes receiving an input indicating a user-selected value for a qualitative property of a food item. In response to the input, a cook cycle is initiated. The cook cycle includes operating at least one of a heating module of the cooking appliance and a turntable of the cooking appliance based on the user-selected value for the qualitative property. The method also includes obtaining an image with a camera assembly after initiating the cook cycle and analyzing the obtained image to determine a present value of the qualitative property of the food item. As a result, the food item is cooked to provide the user-selected value for the qualitative property.
Claims20
A method of operating a cooking appliance, the cooking appliance comprising a casing defining a cooking cavity, a turntable rotatably mounted in the cooking cavity, a first heating module configured to provide cooking energy to the cooking cavity, a second heating module spaced apart from the first heating module, the second heating module configured to provide cooking energy to the cooking cavity, and a camera assembly, the method comprising:
- receiving, by a controller of the cooking appliance, an input indicating that the cooking appliance is to operate in a meal cook cycle;
- receiving, by the controller of the cooking appliance, an input indicating a user-selected value for a qualitative property of a food item to be prepared using the meal cook cycle;
- initiating the meal cook cycle, wherein the meal cook cycle comprises operating at least one of the first heating module, the second heating module, and the turntable based on the user-selected qualitative property value;
- obtaining an image with the camera assembly after initiating the meal cook cycle;
- and
- analyzing the obtained image to determine a present value of the qualitative property of the food item,
- whereby the food item is cooked in the meal cook cycle to provide the user-selected value for the qualitative property.
A method of operating a cooking appliance, the cooking appliance comprising a casing defining a cooking cavity, a turntable rotatably mounted in the cooking cavity, a heating module configured to provide cooking energy to the cooking cavity, and a camera assembly, the method comprising:
- receiving, by a controller of the cooking appliance, an input indicating a user-selected value for a qualitative property of a food item;
- initiating a cook cycle, wherein the cook cycle comprises operating at least one of the heating module and the turntable based on the user-selected qualitative property value;
- obtaining an image with the camera assembly after initiating the cook cycle;
- and
- analyzing the obtained image to determine a present value of the qualitative property of the food item,
- whereby the food item is cooked in the cook cycle to provide the user-selected value for the qualitative property.

- a heating module configured to provide cooking energy to the cooking cavity;
- a camera assembly;
- and
- a controller, the controller configured for:
- receiving an input indicating a user-selected value for a qualitative property of a food item;
- initiating a cook cycle, wherein the cook cycle comprises operating at least one of the heating module and the turntable based on the user-selected qualitative property value;
- obtaining an image with the camera assembly after initiating the cook cycle;
- and
- analyzing the obtained image to determine a present value of the qualitative property of the food item,
- whereby the food item is cooked in the cook cycle to provide the user-selected value for the qualitative property.
