Frequency division multiplexing of random access channel occasions

A method of operating a base station (BS), the method comprising:

• transmitting a random access (RA) configuration including one or more parameters configuring a first set of random access channel (RACH) occasions (ROs) and a second set of ROs;
• and
• determining whether frequency division multiplexed (FDMed) ROs in the second set of ROs are FDMed with one or more ROs in the first set of ROs,
• wherein, when FDMed ROs in the second set of ROs are FDMed with one or more ROs in the first set of ROs, the FDMed ROs in the second set of ROs FDMed with the one or more ROs in the first set of ROs are sequentially indexed in increasing order of frequency with an index starting from a value of a parameter in the RA configuration indicating a number of ROs FDMed in one time instance in the first set of ROs.

An electronic device comprising:

• at least on processor including processing circuitry;
• and
• memory storing instructions, wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor individually or collectively, cause the electronic device to:
• receive a random access (RA) configuration including one or more parameters configuring a first set of random access channel (RACH) occasions (ROs) and a second set of ROs;
• and
• determine whether frequency division multiplexed (FDMed) ROs in the second set of ROs are FDMed with one or more ROs in the first set of ROs,
• wherein, when FDMed ROs in the second set of ROs are FDMed with one or more ROs in the first set of ROs, the FDMed ROs in the second set of ROs FDMed with the one or more ROs in the first set of ROs are sequentially indexed in increasing order of frequency with an index starting from a value of a parameter in the RA configuration indicating a number of ROs FDMed in one time instance in the first set of ROs.
