Multi-link power management indication

A system comprising:

• a transmitter configured to communicate with an access point using a plurality of links;
• and
• one or more processors configured to;
• identify a ternary state of power management for each link of the plurality of links;
• determine a change in power management state of one or more links of the plurality of links;
• generate, using a ternary encoding, a value for a power management field to identify the change in power management state of the one or more links of the plurality of links;
• and
• communicate via the transmitter a frame comprising the power management field via one link of the plurality of links to the access point.

A method comprising:

• identifying, by a processor, a ternary state of power management for each link of a plurality of links;
• determining, by the processor, a change in power management state of one or more links of the plurality of links;
• generating, by the processor, using a ternary encoding, a value for a power management field to identify the change in power management state of the one or more links of the plurality of links;
• and
• communicating, by the processor, a frame comprising the power management field via one link of the plurality of links to an access point.
