Abstract
A method for enabling one or more Wireless-Fidelity (Wi-Fi) extenders in a user environment. The method comprises determining signal quality of one or more areas in the user environment, identifying, boundary coordinates of one or more sub-areas around one or more weak strength devices, detecting one or more strong strength devices located in the proximity of the identified boundary coordinates of the one or more sub-areas, identifying one or more candidate strong strength devices from the detected one or more strong strength devices and enabling the identified one or more candidate strong-strength devices to operate as the one or more Wi-Fi extenders
Claims15
A method for enabling one or more Wireless-Fidelity (Wi-Fi) extenders in a user environment, the method comprising:
- determining a signal quality of one or more areas in the user environment based on at least one of one or more device parameters, one or more device capabilities, or a Wi-Fi signal strength of one or more devices, respectively;
- identifying, based on the determined signal quality, the one or more device parameters, and one or more area parameters, boundary coordinates of one or more sub-areas around one or more weak strength devices, among the one or more devices, having a first Wi-Fi signal strength that is less than a predefined threshold signal strength;
- detecting, based on the one or more device parameters, the one or more area parameters, and the Wi-Fi signal strength of the one or more devices, respectively, one or more strong strength devices located in proximity of the identified boundary coordinates of the one or more sub-areas, the detected one or more strong strength devices having a second Wi-Fi signal strength that is more than the predefined threshold signal strength;
- identifying one or more candidate strong strength devices from the detected one or more strong strength devices based on one or more extender parameters;
- and
- enabling the identified one or more candidate strong strength devices, respectively, to operate as the one or more Wi-Fi extenders.
A system for enabling one or more Wireless-Fidelity (Wi-Fi) extenders in a user environment, the system comprising:
- a memory to store one or more computer programs;
- and
- one or more processors, (201) communicatively coupled to the memory, to execute the one or more computer programs or at least one instruction stored in the memory to cause the system to:
- determine a signal quality of one or more areas in the user environment based on at least one of one or more device parameters, one or more device capabilities, or a Wi-Fi signal strength of one or more devices, respectively;
- identify, based on the determined signal quality, the one or more device parameters, and one or more area parameters, boundary coordinates of one or more sub-areas around one or more weak strength devices, among the one or more devices, having a first Wi-Fi signal strength less than a predefined threshold signal strength;
- detect, based on the one or more device parameters, the one or more area parameters, and the Wi-Fi signal strength of the one or more devices, respectively, one or more strong strength devices located in proximity of the identified boundary coordinates of the one or more sub-areas, the detected one or more strong strength devices having a second Wi-Fi signal strength that is more than the predefined threshold signal strength;
- and
- identify one or more candidate strong strength devices from the detected one or more strong strength devices based on one or more extender parameters;
- and
- enable the identified one or more candidate strong strength devices, respectively, to operate as the one or more Wi-Fi extenders for the one or more weak strength devices located in the user environment.
