Issuing Remote Commands to Tracking Devices

One or more computer-readable non-transitory storage media including instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, are configured to cause the one or more processors to:

• receive, by a tracking system server, an instruction from a first computing device relating to a tracking device, wherein the tracking device is not in communication with the tracking system server;
• request, by the tracking system server, a notification from a second computing device that the second computing device has received a tracking signal from the tracking device;
• and
• in response to receiving the notification that the second computing device has received the tracking signal from the tracking device:
• authenticate, by the tracking system server, a relationship between the first computing device and the tracking device;
• and
• transmit, by the tracking system server, and to the second computing device, the instruction relating to the tracking device, wherein the second computing device is configured to transmit the instruction relating to the tracking device to the tracking device.

A computing device comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and one or more computer-readable non-transitory storage media coupled to the one or more processors and comprising instructions operable when executed by the one or more processors to cause the one or more processors to:
• receive, by a tracking system server, an instruction from a first computing device relating to a tracking device, wherein the tracking device is not in communication with the tracking system server;
• request, by the tracking system server, a notification from a second computing device that the second computing device has received a tracking signal from the tracking device;
• and
• in response to receiving the notification that the second computing device has received the tracking signal from the tracking device:
• authenticate, by the tracking system server, a relationship between the first computing device and the tracking device;
• and
• transmit, by the tracking system server, and to the second computing device, the instruction relating to the tracking device, wherein the second computing device is configured to transmit the instruction relating to the tracking device to the tracking device.
