Abstract

A first presentation device may transmit a request for a server time and receive a server time indication in response. The first presentation device may calculate a device-specific time delta based on the server time indication and a local time at which the indication was received. The first presentation device may receive content comprising a presentation timestamp and may calculate a device-specific presentation time based on the time delta and the presentation timestamp. Upon the local time matching the device-specific presentation time, the first presentation device may initiate presentation of the content. A second presentation device may perform corresponding operations such that both devices initiate presentation substantially simultaneously. The time delta may be adjusted based on a network round-trip time.

Dependent claims

A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions which, when executed by one or more hardware processors, cause execution of operations comprising:

transmitting, from a first presentation device to a server, a first request for a server time;
receiving, at the first presentation device and responsive to the first request, a first server time indication;
calculating, based on a time at the first presentation device at which the first server time indication is received and the received first server time indication, a first device-specific time delta;
receiving, at the first presentation device, content comprising a presentation timestamp indicating a time at which the content is to be presented;
calculating a first device-specific presentation time based on the first device-specific time delta and the presentation timestamp;
and
responsive to a current time at the first presentation device matching the first device-specific presentation time, initiating presentation of the received content.
