Abstract
One or more block vectors (BVs) associated with a block of content may be determined. Reference blocks based on the BVs may be used to evaluate candidate prediction modes. A metric value may be determined for each of the candidate prediction modes. A subset of the candidate prediction modes may be selected based on the metric values. The selected prediction modes may be used to generate predicted blocks. A prediction block for the block may be determined by combining the predicted blocks. The block may be coded based on the prediction block.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- determining, by a computing device, one or more block vectors (BVs) associated with a block of content;
- for each intra prediction mode (IPM) in a list of candidate IPMs:
- determining a similarity between a reference block associated with a BV of the one or more BVs and a predicted block generated by applying the IPM to the block of content;
- selecting a plurality of IPMs, from the list of candidate IPMs, based on the similarities associated with the list of candidate IPMs;
- combining predicted blocks, generated by applying the plurality of IPMs to the block of content, to determine a prediction block for the block;
- and
- coding the block based on the prediction block.
A method comprising:
- receiving, by a computing device and from a bitstream, a residual associated with a block of content;
- determining one or more block vectors (BVs) associated with the block of content;
- for each intra prediction mode (IPM) in a list of IPMs:
- determining a similarity between a reference block associated with a BV of the one or more BVs and a predicted block generated by applying the IPM to the block of content;
- selecting a plurality of IPMs, from the list of IPMs, based on the determined similarities;
- combining predicted blocks, generated by applying the plurality of IPMs to the block of content, to determine a prediction block for the block;
- and
- decoding the block based on the prediction block and the residual.
A method comprising:
- determining, by a computing device, one or more block vectors (BVs) associated with a block of content;
- for each intra prediction mode (IPM) in a list of IPMs:
- determining a similarity between a reference block associated with a BV of the one or more BVs and a predicted block generated by applying the IPM to a template of the block;
- selecting a plurality of IPMs, from the list of IPMs, based on the determined similarities;
- determining a prediction block associated with the block based on combining predicted blocks generated by applying the plurality of IPMs to the template of the block;
- determining, based on subtracting the prediction block from the block, a residual;
- encoding, in a bitstream, the residual;
- and
- signaling, in the bitstream, an indication configured to indicate that a fusion mode is used for the block.
