Image reading apparatus and method of controlling the same

An image reading apparatus that reads a document conveyed by a conveyor, the image reading apparatus comprising:

• a first image reader that includes a first light source disposed on an upstream side in a conveyance direction of the document and a second light source disposed on a downstream side in the conveyance direction, and reads a first side of the document with light emitted by the first light source and the second light source;
• a second image reader that includes a third light source on an upstream side in the conveyance direction of the document and a fourth light source on a downstream side in the conveyance direction, and reads a second side different from the first side of the document with light emitted by the third light source and the fourth light source;
• and
• one or more controllers including one or more processors in communication with one or more memories, the one or more controllers configured to:
• be able to adjust a light amount of the first light source and light amount of the second light source, and
• be able to adjust a light amount of the third light source and light amount of the fourth light source
• wherein when adjusting the light amount of the third light source and the light amount of the fourth light source, the one or more controllers adjust a second total light amount in which the light amount of the third light source and the light amount of the fourth light source are added based on a first total light amount in which the light amount of the first light source and the light amount of the second light source whose light amounts have been adjusted are added.
