Abstract

This application provides a data compression method and a communication apparatus. The method includes: A communication apparatus determines, based on first data, a first initial basis vector and a first data space corresponding to the first initial basis vector. The communication apparatus determines first basis information based on second data that is in the first data and that belongs to the first data space. The communication apparatus performs data compression on the second data by using the first basis information, to obtain first compressed data. The communication apparatus sends first information, where the first information indicates the first basis information and the first compressed data.
