Abstract
Systems, methods, and apparatus to identify media devices are disclosed. An example network communications monitor includes network interface circuitry, computer readable instructions, and processor circuitry. The processor circuitry is to execute the computer readable instructions to detect, via the network interface circuitry, multiple network communications transmitted on a home network within the household, access panelist data that associates a panelist of the household with a panelist device of the panelist, determine, based on the panelist data, that one or more of the multiple network communications are associated with the panelist device, and cause storage of data identifying the one or more network communications in association with the panelist.
Claims20
An audience measurement system comprising:
- a meter installed at a panelist home and connected to a wireless router providing a home network at the panelist home, the meter configured to monitor network activity data associated with a device on the home network;
- and
- a computing system comprising a processor and a memory, the computing system configured to perform a set of operations comprising:
- receiving, from the meter, the network activity data associated with the device,
- extracting, from the network activity data, device-identifying information associated with the device,
- mapping the device-identifying information to a device identifier based on correlation data associating instances of device-identifying information with respective device identifiers,
- storing the network activity data in association with the device identifier, and
- determining media exposure statistics for a demographic group based on the network activity data and demographic data associated with the device identifier.
A method comprising:
- receiving, at a server from a meter installed at a panelist home, network activity data associated with a device on a home network monitored by the meter, wherein the meter is connected to a wireless router providing the home network at the panelist home;
- extracting, from the network activity data, device-identifying information associated with the device;
- mapping, at the server, the device-identifying information to a device identifier based on correlation data associating instances of device-identifying information with respective device identifiers;
- storing, at the server, the network activity data in association with the device identifier;
- and
- determining media exposure statistics for a demographic group based on the network activity data and demographic data associated with the device identifier.
A computing system comprising a processor and a memory, the computing system configured to perform a set of operations comprising:
- receiving, from a meter installed at a panelist home and connected to a wireless router providing a home network at the panelist home, network activity data associated with a device on the home network;
- extracting, from the network activity data, device-identifying information associated with the device;
- mapping the device-identifying information to a device identifier based on correlation data a associating instances of device-identifying information with respective device identifiers;
- storing the network activity data in association with the device identifier;
- and
- determining media exposure statistics for a demographic group based on the network activity data and demographic data associated with the device identifier.
