Abstract
Methods and systems for providing alternate content are disclosed. An example method can comprise determining a failure condition of a content stream. A channel identifier can be determined for the content stream, and alternate content streams associated with the channel identifier can be determined. The alternate content streams can be accessible via a different protocol, frequency, or network path than the content stream. For example, the alternate content streams can be accessible via a packet-switched network path instead a non-packet-switched network path used to access the content stream.
Claims20
A method, comprising:
- determining, based on a quality level of information received, a failure condition of an attempt to access, over a first network, a content item associated with a content source;
- requesting, based on the failure condition, authentication for accessing the content item via a second network that is a different type of network than the first network;
- receiving temporary authorization based on the failure condition, wherein the temporary authorization comprises one or more encryption keys;
- and
- accessing, based on the one or more encryption keys and via the second network, the content item from an alternate content source.
An apparatus, comprising:
- one or more processors;
- and
- memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to:
- determine, based on a quality level of information received, a failure condition of an attempt to access, over a first network, a content item associated with a content source;
- request, based on the failure condition, authentication for accessing the content item via a second network that is a different type of network than the first network;
- receive temporary authorization based on the failure condition, wherein the temporary authorization comprises one or more encryption keys;
- and
- access, based on the one or more encryption keys and via the second network, the content item from an alternate content source.
One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:
- determine, based on a quality level of information received, a failure condition of an attempt to access, over a first network, a content item associated with a content source;
- request, based on the failure condition, authentication for accessing the content item via a second network that is a different type of network than the first network;
- receive temporary authorization based on the failure condition, wherein the temporary authorization comprises one or more encryption keys;
- and
- access, based on the one or more encryption keys and via the second network, the content item from an alternate content source.
