Systems and methods include a network element, comprising a client-side input, an oscillator, a plurality of modulators, a plurality of frequency-multipliers, a combiner, and an antenna. The client-side input receives a pair of complementary baseband signal components. The oscillator generates a pair of complementary LO signal components. The plurality of modulators modulate the pair of complementary baseband signal components onto the pair of complementary LO signal components to generate a plurality of modulated signals. The plurality of frequency-multipliers multiply a frequency of the plurality of modulated signals to generate a plurality of frequency-multiplied signals. The combiner combines the plurality of frequency-multiplied signals to generate a combined signal. The combined signal has a carrier frequency in a range from 200 Gigahertz (GHz) to 10 Terahertz (THz). The antenna generates a transmission signal as a radiated electromagnetic wave based on the combined signal and couples the transmission signal into a THz waveguide.
