Abstract

A communication method and apparatus are applied to support a next-generation Wi-Fi protocol (for example, 802.11be, Wi-Fi 7, or EHT) of IEEE 802.11ax, a next-generation Wi-Fi protocol (for example, 802.11bn, Wi-Fi 8, or UHR) of IEEE 802.11be, Wi-Fi AI, a millimeter wave (MMW), an ultra-wideband (UWB), sensing, or the like. A first communication apparatus sends a first radio frame, and a second communication apparatus receives the first radio frame. The first radio frame includes first OBSS information. For example, the first OBSS information indicates information about a first OBSS that causes the first communication apparatus to perform non-primary channel transmission. Therefore, the second communication apparatus may learn of the first OBSS information. When receiving a radio frame sent by a first OBSS station, the foregoing two apparatuses may synchronously switch to a non-primary channel, thereby improving communication efficiency.

Dependent claims

A communication method, wherein the method is applied to a first communication apparatus, and the method comprises:

sending a first radio frame, wherein the first radio frame comprises first overlapping basic service set OBSS information;
receiving a second radio frame on a first channel, wherein the second radio frame is a radio frame sent by a station in a first OBSS indicated by the first OBSS information;
and
switching a communication channel.
