Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for dynamic switching of reference transmission schemes used by a UE for CSI measurement and reporting.

A method for wireless communication by a user equipment (UE), comprising:
- determining a reference basis for a measurement procedure based on signaling received from a wireless node;
- performing the measurement procedure based on the determination;
- and
- transmitting a measurement report based on performing the measurement procedure.

- providing signaling to a user equipment (UE) allowing the UE to determine a reference basis for a measurement procedure;

- receiving a measurement report from the UE based on measurements performed according to the reference basis.
