A ranked successive detection and decoding (R-SDD) method based on Sparse Code Multiple Access (SCMA) includes following steps: external iterations are performed successively according to an initial confidence order based on received signals of a plurality of users and initialized posteriori log-likelihood ratios; an external iteration count is updated; decoding verification is performed on output first posteriori log-likelihood ratios; if there is an unsuccessfully decoded user and the external iteration count has not reached a threshold, a next external iteration is performed successively according to the received signal and a first priori log-likelihood ratio of each unsuccessfully decoded user; the external iteration count is updated; decoding verification is performed based on output second posteriori log-likelihood ratios; and when it is determined that there is no unsuccessfully decoded user or the external iteration count reaches the threshold, a decoded bit sequence is output. A R-SDD receiver is also provided.
