Haptic signal interpolation

A method of haptic signal interpolation, the method comprising:

• acquiring a haptic signal;
• determining a first interpolation type based on the haptic signal;
• and
• encoding the haptic signal into coded information in a bit stream of the haptic signal based on the first interpolation type, the first interpolation type being associated with a signal value interpolation between a first signal value of a first haptic event component and a second signal value of a second haptic event component in a first haptic event, and the second haptic event component preceding or following the first haptic event component.

An apparatus for haptic signal interpolation, comprising processing circuitry configured to:

• receive a bit stream including coded information of a haptic signal, the haptic signal including a plurality of haptic events;
• determine an interpolation type of a first haptic event component in a first haptic event of the plurality of haptic events according to at least an identifier in the coded information of the haptic signal;
• perform a signal value interpolation between a first signal value of the first haptic event component and a second signal value of a second haptic event component in the first haptic event based on the interpolation type of the first haptic event component, the second haptic event component preceding or following the first haptic event component;
• and
• reconstruct the haptic signal based on at least the signal value interpolation.
