Abstract
A system includes a direct-on-line electric motor; a starting contact arranged in series with the electric motor and a power supply; at least one sensor configured to obtain an indication of a state of the electric motor; and a controller arranged in parallel to the electric motor and the power supply. The controller includes a receiver for the at least one sensor and is configured to: receive the indication via the at least one sensor receiver, determine, based on the indication, that a trip state has occurred, and open the starting contact based on determining that the trip state has occurred.
Claims20
A system, comprising:
- a direct-on-line electric motor;
- a starting contact arranged in series with the electric motor and a power supply;
- at least one sensor configured to obtain an indication of a state of the electric motor;
- and
- a controller arranged in parallel to the electric motor and the power supply, the controller comprising a receiver for the at least one sensor and configured to:
- receive the indication via the at least one sensor receiver,
- determine, based on the indication, that a trip state has occurred, and
- open the starting contact based on determining that the trip state has occurred.
A device for monitoring a direct-on-line electric motor, the device comprising:
- a starting contact arranged in series with the electric motor and a power supply;
- at least one sensor configured to obtain an indication of a state of the electric motor;
- and
- a controller arranged in parallel to the electric motor and the power supply, the controller comprising a receiver for the at least one sensor and configured to:
- receive the indication via the at least one sensor receiver,
- determine, based on the indication, that a trip state has occurred, and
- open the starting contact based on determining that the trip state has occurred.
