A system and method using push-button energy harvesting (EH) switch devices for controlling devices in an aircraft vehicle, and for dynamically receiving and responding to switch events. The EH switch devices transmit EH switch wireless datagram messages responsive to corresponding EH switch actuations. A gateway transceiver at the aircraft receives and performs a real-time analysis of all EH datagram messages including screening detected EH messages based on a database of commissioned devices. The datagram payload data includes a sequence counter to combat any record-and-replay spoofing attacks. A control processor uses a memory to track reception sequencing for all preconfigured EH switch devices. The sequence counter is transmitted by the EH switch for every commissioned unit and is tracked by the control processor using the memory. If a sequence value received is less than or equal to the last detected sequence value for a particular device, an error message is flagged.
