Abstract
An electrical wiring device adapted to receive an input power signal and generate an output power signal is described. The electrical wiring device may comprise a base portion adapted to generate a DC signal for providing power to a load; and a signal adapter removably attached to the base portion; wherein the electrical wiring device is adapted to control the application of DC power to the load.

An electrical wiring device adapted to receive an input power signal and generate an output power signal, the electrical wiring device comprising:
- a base portion adapted to generate a DC signal for providing power to a load;
- and
- a signal adapter removably attached to the base portion;
- wherein the electrical wiring device is adapted to control the application of DC power to the load.
An electrical wiring device adapted to receive an input power signal and generate an output power signal, the electrical wiring device comprising:
- a base portion comprises an outlet for receiving prongs of a plug;
- a signal adapter removably attached to the base portion;
- and
- an electrical interface for communication of AC signals and DC signals between the base portion and the signal adapter.
A method of implementing an electrical wiring device adapted to receive an input power signal and generate an output power signal, the method comprising:
- generating, by a base portion, a DC signal for providing power to a load;
- receiving a signal adapter that is removably attached to the base portion;
- and
- controlling the application of DC power to the load.
