Abstract
A junction box comprising a base configured to mount to a roof, the base including an enclosed bottom, an open end opposite the enclosed bottom, a first side extending from the enclosed bottom to the open end, a second side opposite of the first side, a third side extending from the first side to the second side, and a fourth side opposite the third side, a wall extending from the first side to the second, a high point disposed along the wall, the high point having an angle within a range of 90 degrees and 180 degrees, a lid sized to seal against and hingedly connect to the base, and a flashing that extends from a portion of the first side of the base, from a portion of the second side of the base, and from the wall, in a direction away from the base.

A junction box comprising:
- a base including:
- a first side, and
- a second side opposite the first side;
- sidewalls extending from the first side of the base, the sidewalls including:
- a first sidewall, and
- a second sidewall opposite the first sidewall, the second sidewall having a flange with an aperture;
- a diverter formed by at least one of the sidewalls, the diverter being disposed on an upslope side of the junction box;
- a lid hingedly connected to the first sidewall;
- a fastener disposable through the lid and into the aperture to secure the lid to the base;
- and
- a gasket disposable on the second side, the gasket including an opening is disposed between a first end of the gasket and a second end of the gasket, the opening being oriented towards a downslope side of the junction box, opposite the upslope side.
A junction box comprising:
- a base including an area associated with a penetration into a roof;
- a diverter formed at least in part by a first wall extending from the base and a second wall extending from the base, the diverter being oriented towards a ridge of the roof;
- a seal disposable on the base, the seal including an opening oriented towards an eave of the roof, wherein the area is disposed within the seal;
- a lid;
- a hinge connecting the lid to the base;
- and
- a fastener disposable at least partially through the lid and into the base, the fastener being disposed into the base at a location opposite to where the hinge connects the lid to the base.
A junction box comprising:
- a base including:
- an interior cavity,
- a first surface disposable against a mounting surface,
- a second surface disposed within the interior cavity, the second surface opposite the first surface,
- an area on the second surface associated with a penetration into the mounting surface,
- an upslope side,
- a downslope side opposite the upslope side, and
- a diverter disposed more proximate to the upslope side than the downslope side;
- a non-continuous seal disposable on the first surface of the base, the non-continuous seal including:
- a first end,
- a second end, and
- an opening disposed between the first end and the second end, the opening oriented towards the downslope side;
- and
- a lid hingedly connected to the base, the lid being transitionable between a first state in which access to the interior cavity is permitted, and a second state in which access to the interior cavity is restricted, the lid being secured in the second state via a fastener, the fastener being secured to the base at an edge opposite a hinged edge of the lid.
