Abstract
An electrical junction box mount apparatus including a base for mounting to a mounting surface and a lid sized to seal against the base. The base includes a mounting portion having a penetration area. A periphery of the penetration area is circumscribed via a groove formed into a bottom surface of the base such that upon placing the base on a mounting surface, the groove encloses empty space within the groove against the mounting surface.
Claims20
A junction box comprising:
- a housing including:
- a base having:
- a first surface,
- a second surface opposite the first surface, and
- a groove formed in the first surface,
- sidewalls extending from the base,
- apertures disposed through the base, internal to the groove, wherein individual apertures of the apertures receive a first fastener to secure the housing to a mounting surface,
- an interior cavity defined by the base and the sidewalls, and
- an indicator disposed on the second surface that is associated with a penetration into the mounting surface;
- a seal disposable within the groove;
- a lid;
- a hinge connecting the lid to a first sidewall of the sidewalls;
- and
- a second fastener to secure the lid to the base at a location along a second sidewall of the sidewalls, the second sidewall opposite the first sidewall.

A junction box comprising:
- a housing including:
- sidewalls,
- an interior cavity,
- a base having:
- a first surface disposed within the interior cavity, and
- a second surface disposed external to the interior cavity, opposite the first surface,
- an area disposed on the first surface for a penetration into a roof,
- a seal disposed on the second surface and around at least three sides of the area, and
- a plurality of openings located through the base, external to the area, and internal to the seal, wherein individual openings of the plurality of openings receive
- a first fastener to secure the housing to the roof;
- a lid hingedly connected to a first sidewall of the sidewalls;
- and
- a second fastener disposable at least partially through the lid and into a receptacle on a second sidewall of the sidewalls, the second sidewall being opposite the first sidewall.

A junction box comprising:
- a base;
- an area disposed on a first surface of the base for a penetration into a mounting surface;
- a gasket disposable on a second surface of the base and around at least three sides of the area;
- a sealant disposable on the second surface of the base and around the at least three sides of the area;
- openings disposed through the base, between the first surface and the second surface, the openings being located within the gasket and the sealant, wherein individual fasteners are disposable through individual openings of the openings to secure the base to the mounting surface;
- sidewalls extending from the base;
- a lid secured to a first sidewall of the sidewalls via one or more hinges;
- and
- a fastener to secure the lid to a second sidewall of the sidewalls, the second sidewall being opposite the first sidewall.
