Abstract
A battery management system for managing both a high-voltage traction battery and a low-voltage electronics battery can include a network manager circuit. The network manager circuit can include a wireless transceiver, which can be configured to communicate wirelessly with a high-voltage battery monitor coupled to the high-voltage traction battery. The network manager circuit can also include a first wired interface, which can be configured to communicate with a low-voltage battery monitor coupled to the low-voltage electronics battery. The network manager circuit can also include a second wired interface, which can be configured to communicate with a battery management system host controller.
Claims20
A battery management system for managing both a high-voltage traction battery and a low-voltage electronics battery, the battery management system comprising:
- a network manager circuit including:
- a wireless transceiver, configured to communicate wirelessly with a high-voltage battery monitor coupled to the high-voltage traction battery;
- a first wired interface, configured to communicate with a low-voltage battery monitor coupled to the low-voltage electronics battery;
- and
- a second wired interface, configured to communicate with a battery management system host controller.
A method of operating a battery management system for managing both a high-voltage traction battery and a low-voltage electronics battery, the method comprising:
- communicating, using a wireless transceiver included in a network manager circuit, wirelessly with a high-voltage battery monitor coupled to the high-voltage traction battery;
- communicating, using a first wired interface included in the network manager circuit, with a low-voltage battery monitor coupled to the low-voltage electronics battery;
- and
- communicating, using a second wired interface included in the network manager circuit, with a battery management system host controller.
A battery management system for managing both a high-voltage traction battery and a low-voltage electronics battery, the battery management system comprising:
- a network manager circuit included in and in combination with an automotive battery enclosure including the high-voltage traction battery and the low-voltage electronics battery, the network manager circuit including:
- a wireless transceiver, configured to communicate wirelessly with a high-voltage battery monitor coupled to the high-voltage traction battery;
- a first wired interface, configured to communicate with a low-voltage battery monitor coupled to the low-voltage electronics battery;
- and
- a second wired interface, configured to communicate with a battery management system host controller;
- and
- the battery management system host controller external to the automotive battery enclosure, wherein the second wired interface passes through the automotive battery enclosure.
