Method for the manufacture of a catalyst-containing electrode layer

Abstract

The present disclosure is directed to a method for producing a catalyst-containing electrode layer on a substrate, in particular a catalyst layer for fuel cells, electrolysers, or other chemical or electrochemical reactors. The method comprises the following steps: (A) generating an electrode layer on the substrate, wherein the electrode layer contains support particles for the catalyst to be generated thereon; and simultaneously or subsequently: (B) generating the catalyst on at least one part of the support particles present in the electrode layer generated according to step (A) with decomposition of a catalyst precursor present in the electrode layer and not merely at the surface, wherein the support particles and/or the catalyst precursor is/are applied on the substrate via a two-dimensional, film-like application method.
