A cooling apparatus for a switching arrangement, comprising a variable cooling module comprising a number of cooling units for mounting in a housing of the switching arrangement, said cooling module comprising a carrier unit designed to receive and hold a variable number of the cooling units, said cooling units being designed differently and/or homogeneously in terms of cooling capacity, shape, type and/or size.

A switching arrangement, comprising:

• a housing comprising a plurality of housing parts detachably connectable to one another to form a module housing and jointly enclosing in an assembled state a housing interior for positioning, orienting and/or fixing therein a cooling apparatus designed as a variable cooling module;
• and
• a switch comprising an electronic module to be cooled, said electronic module being arranged in the housing interior and thermally coupled to the cooling apparatus.
