High resolution land cover (hrlc)

A system for use in mapping related to high-resolution land cover, the system comprising:

• a memory storage including executable instructions;
• and
• a processing unit coupled to the memory storage, wherein the processing unit is operative, by the executable instructions, to:
• receive a first satellite image of a scene, the scene being a surface of the Earth, the first satellite image having a first resolution
• receive a plurality of second satellite images of the scene taken over a period of time, the plurality of second satellite images having a second resolution, which is less than the first resolution;
• perform a segmentation of the first satellite image;
• perform a plurality of transformations on the plurality of second satellite images;
• create a temporal stack layer for a plurality of temporal statistics for each of the plurality of transformations on the plurality of second satellite images;
• intersect the temporal stack layer with the segmented first satellite image using a plurality of spatial statistics to produce a plurality of spatio-temporal layers;
• and
• classify, using a Machine Learning (ML) model, based on the plurality of spatio-temporal layers, pixels of the first satellite image, as grouped by the segmentation, into respective ones of a plurality of classifications of land cover.
