Abstract
The invention relates to a method and system for determining a pattern deviation value of a top surface of a panel, in particular a top surface of a floor panel or wall panel. The method and system enable the calculation of a pattern deviation value based upon a determined pattern value and the at least one selected standard pattern value.
Claims19
A method for controlling colour and pattern quality of digitally printed top surfaces of panels during a production process, the method comprising the steps of:
- a) providing at least one panel having a digitally printed top surface;
- b) providing at least one database comprising a plurality of standard pattern values of the panel;
- c) selecting at least one standard pattern value from the database;
- d) capturing at least one image of at least part of the digitally printed top surface of the panel;
- e) determining at least one pattern value of at least part of the image;
- f) calculating a pattern deviation value based upon the at least one pattern value determined during step e) and the at least one standard pattern value selected during step c);
- g) comparing the pattern deviation value to a threshold value;
- h) generating, when the pattern deviation value exceeds the threshold value, a feedback signal indicating at least one printing parameter associated with the pattern deviation value;
- and
- i) automatically adjusting, by a digital printing system, the at least one printing parameter based on the feedback signal to reduce the pattern deviation value in a subsequently digitally printed top surface.
A system for controlling colour and pattern quality of digitally printed panels, comprising:
- at least one image capturing device configured to capture at least one image of at least part of a digitally printed top surface of a panel;
- at least one database comprising a plurality of standard pattern values of the panel;
- at least one processor communicatively coupled to the at least one image capturing device and to the at least one database, the at least one processor configured to:
- select at least one standard pattern value from the database,
- determine at least one pattern value of at least part of the image,
- calculate a pattern deviation value based upon the at least one determined pattern value and the at least one selected standard pattern value,
- compare the pattern deviation value to a threshold value, and
- generate, when the pattern deviation value exceeds the threshold value, a feedback signal indicating at least one printing parameter associated with the pattern deviation value;
- and
- a digital printing system communicatively coupled to the at least one processor, the digital printing system configured to automatically adjust the at least one printing parameter based on the feedback signal.
