A system for identifying alignment areas for the examination of semiconductor specimens, which includes processing circuitry. The processing circuitry is configured to obtain a layout file specifying the layout of a semiconductor element. A set of candidate areas for aligning an examination tool to image a specimen of the semiconductor element at a desired location is generated by performing a polygon density analysis. The polygon density analysis identifies areas within at least a portion of the layout that have a polygon density within a specified density range. The generated candidate set is sequentially filtered to remove candidate areas that are outside a specified distance range from the desired location from the candidate set, and to remove candidate areas that lack vertices within the candidate area from the candidate set. The filtered candidate set is provided for use by an examination tool for a semiconductor element.
A system for identifying alignment areas for the examination of semiconductor specimens, comprising:
A method of identifying alignment areas for the examination of semiconductor specimens, the method comprising:
A non-transitory computer readable storage medium tangibly embodying a program of instructions that, when executed by a computer, cause the computer to perform a method of identifying alignment areas for the examination of semiconductor specimens, said method comprising:
