System and method for selectively re-stocking inventory structures with stock of product from back-of-store inventory

The method of claim, wherein predicting the first quantity of product units of the first product type loaded in the first slot at the first time based on features extracted from the first image comprises:

• based on features extracted from the first image, estimating a stock condition for the first product type in the first slot at the first time;
• accessing a set of point-of-sale data associated with the first product type and representing sales of the first product type during a first time period succeeding the first time and preceding the second time;
• and
• predicting the first quantity of product units of the first product type loaded in the first slot at the first time based on the set of point-of-sale data and the stock condition.

The method of claim:

• further comprising, by the computer system:
• accessing a third image depicting a second slot in a second inventory structure in the customer region of the facility, the second slot assigned to a second product type, in the set of product types, the third image captured by the mobile robotic system at a third time during the scan cycle;
• predicting a third quantity of product units of the second product type loaded in the second slot at the third time based on features extracted from the third image;
• and
• in response to the third quantity of product units falling below a second threshold quantity defined for the second product type, accessing a fourth image depicting inventory of the second product type arranged within the inventory region of the facility, the fourth image associated with a second location in the inventory region and captured at a fourth time falling within a threshold duration of the third time;
• and
• wherein generating the prompt to deliver the second quantity of product units from the first location in the inventory region to the first slot in the first inventory structure in the customer region further comprises, in response to the second location falling within a threshold distance of the first location within the inventory region, generating the prompt to deliver:
• the second quantity of product units of the first product type from the first location in the inventory region to the first slot in the first inventory structure in the customer region;
• and
• a fourth quantity of product units of the second product type from the second location in the inventory region to the second slot in the second inventory structure in the customer region.

The method of claim, wherein transmitting the prompt to the mobile device accessed by the user affiliated with the facility comprises:

• accessing a second location of a second mobile device within the facility at a third time, the second mobile device accessed by a second user affiliated with the facility;
• and
• in response to the second location falling outside of a threshold distance of the first location in the inventory region:
• accessing a third location of the mobile device within the facility at the third time;
• and
• in response to the third location falling with the threshold distance of the first location in the inventory region, transmitting the prompt to the mobile device accessed by the user affiliated with the facility.

The method of claim:

• further comprising:
• accessing a set of sales data representing sales of the first product type during a first time period;
• and
• in response to the first quantity of product units falling below a threshold quantity, estimating a first urgency score for re-stocking product units of the first product type based on the set of sales data;
• and
• wherein generating the prompt to deliver the second quantity of product units from the first location in the inventory region to the first slot in the first inventory structure in the customer region comprises generating the prompt to deliver the second quantity of product units from the first location in the inventory region to the first slot in the first inventory structure in the customer region within a first time window of a first duration corresponding to the first urgency score.

The method of claim, further comprising:

• accessing a third image depicting a second slot in a second inventory structure in the customer region of the facility, the second slot assigned to a second product type, in the set of product types, the third image captured by the mobile robotic system at a third time during the scan cycle;
• predicting a third quantity of product units of the second product type loaded in the second slot at the third time based on features extracted from the third image;
• and
• in response to the third quantity of product units falling below a second threshold quantity:
• accessing a fourth image depicting inventory of the second product type arranged within the inventory region of the facility, the fourth image associated with a second location in the inventory region and captured at a fourth time falling within a threshold duration of the second time;
• accessing a second set of sales data representing sales of the second product type during the first time period;
• estimating a second urgency score for re-stocking product units of the second product type based on the second set of sales data, the second urgency score exceeding the first urgency score;
• and
• generating a second prompt to deliver a fourth quantity of product units of the second product type from the second location in the inventory region to the second slot in the second inventory structure in the customer region within a second time window of a second duration corresponding to the second urgency score, the second duration less than the first duration.

A method comprising:

• by a mobile robotic system, autonomously navigating throughout a facility to capture images of inventory structures, distributed throughout the facility, via an optical sensor;
• and
• by a computer system:
• accessing a first image captured at a first time by a mobile device accessed by a user affiliated with the facility, the first image depicting inventory of a first product type, in a set of product types, arranged within an inventory region of the facility;
• accessing a second image depicting a first slot in a first inventory structure in a customer region of the facility, the first slot assigned to the first product type, the second image captured by the mobile robotic system at a second time preceding the first time;
• predicting a first quantity of product units of the first product type loaded in the first slot at the first time based on features extracted from the second image and a set of point-of-sale data associated with the first product type;
• and
• in response to the first quantity of product units falling below a threshold quantity:
• generating a prompt to deliver a second quantity of product units of the first product type from the inventory region to the first slot in the first inventory structure in the customer region of the facility;
• and
• transmitting the prompt to the user via the mobile device.

The method of claim, wherein predicting the first quantity of product units of the first product type loaded in the first slot at the first time based on features extracted from the second image and the set of point-of-sale data associated with the first product type comprises:

• based on features extracted from the second image, estimating a first stock condition for the first product type in the first slot at the second time;
• accessing the set of point-of-sale data associated with the first product type and representing sales of the first product type during a first time period preceding the first time and succeeding the second time;
• and
• predicting the first quantity of product units of the first product type loaded in the first slot at the first time based on the first set of point-of-sale data and the first stock condition at the second time.

The method of claim:

• wherein accessing the first image captured by the mobile device comprises accessing the first image captured by the mobile device, the first image associated with a first location within the inventory region of the facility;
• further comprising:
• accessing a second location of the first slot in the first inventory structure in the customer region of the facility;
• and
• calculating a first pathway between the first location in the inventory region and the second location in the customer region of the facility based on a map of the facility;
• and
• wherein generating the prompt to deliver the second quantity of product units of the first product type from the inventory region to the first slot in the first inventory structure in the customer region comprises generating the prompt to deliver the second quantity of product units of the first product type from the first location in the inventory region to the second location in the customer region via the first pathway.

The method of claim, further comprising:

• accessing a target quantity of product units of the first product type defined for the first slot;
• characterizing a difference between the target quantity and the first quantity of product units;
• and
• estimating the second quantity of product units based on the difference.

A method comprising:

• by a mobile robotic system, autonomously navigating throughout a facility to capture images of inventory structures via an optical sensor;
• and
• by a computer system:
• accessing a feed of images captured by the mobile robotic system during the scan cycle, the feed of images depicting inventory structures arranged within a customer region of the facility;
• for a first product type in a set of product types:
• deriving a first stock condition of a first slot in a first inventory structure associated with the first product type based on features extracted from a first image, in the feed of images, depicting the first slot;
• and
• in response to the first stock condition deviating from a first target stock condition defined for the first product type, inserting the first product type into a re-stock list comprising a set of re-stock product types;
• accessing a first location of a mobile device accessed by a user affiliated with the facility;
• and
• in response to the first location falling within a threshold distance of a first inventory location in an inventory region of the facility and associated with inventory of the first product type:
• generating a prompt to deliver a first quantity of product units of the first product type from the inventory region to the first slot in the customer region of the facility;
• and
• transmitting the notification to the user via the mobile device.

The method of claim:

• further comprising, in response to the first stock condition deviating from the first target stock condition defined for the first product type:
• accessing the first inventory location, in the inventory region of the facility, associated with inventory of the first product type;
• and
• generating a first geospatial flag, in a set of geospatial flags, for the first product type at the first inventory location;
• and
• wherein generating the prompt in response to the first location falling within the threshold distance of the first inventory location comprises generating the prompt in response to the first location falling within the threshold distance of the first geospatial flag.
