Agentic Information Retrieval And Synthesis

An apparatus for agentic information retrieval and synthesis, comprising:

• a memory;
• and
• one or more processing devices, operatively coupled to the memory, the one or more processing devices configured to:
• receive, by an artificial intelligence (AI) agent, a research task specifying an objective requiring synthesis of information from multiple sources;
• retrieve, by the AI agent, information responsive to the research task from a plurality of data sources;
• generate, by the AI agent, a research output that synthesizes content derived from the retrieved information;
• associate content of the research output with citation data that identifies corresponding retrieved information from the plurality of data sources;
• and
• output, by the AI agent, the research output including the citation data.

A computer program product for agentic information retrieval and synthesis, the computer program product including a computer readable storage medium storing instructions which, when executed, cause a processing device to:

• receive, by an artificial intelligence (AI) agent, a research task specifying an objective requiring synthesis of information from multiple sources;
• retrieve, by the AI agent, information responsive to the research task from a plurality of data sources;
• generate, by the AI agent, a research output that synthesizes content derived from the retrieved information;
• associate content of the research output with citation data that identifies corresponding retrieved information from the plurality of data sources;
• and
• output, by the AI agent, the research output including the citation data.
